Legendary Tale of Puranas (Scriptures )

                        Puranas means history of olden days. In the puranas those where the God situated, is called sthalams (places). The description of puranas for the sthalam is called Thalpuranam. This thalapuranam develops education, intellectual, good moral between people and divinity gives pleasures to them. We know the God’s famous for that place.
                        Puranas are eighteen. Of these in Tamil language there are seven puranas are said to be great. They are viz. Periapuranam, Thiru-vilayadal puranam, Concheepuranam, Sethupuranam, Kanthapuranam, Thanigaipuranam, Thirukutralapuranam. The author of Kanthapuranam is Kachiappa Sivachariyar lived in 12th century. In this puranam Muruga’s birth, talent and his big powers are described. In Kanthapuranam in the Thevakandam episode the place of Tirupparankundram, the divine marriage of Theivanai are described in a grand manner.

                        When God Muruga killed the Soorapathman and after returning, as per the request of six sons of saint Parasura, Brahma and Devas, God Muruga raised in Tirupparankundram.
Theivanai’s Marriage:
                        Indran wants to marry his daughter Theivanai to God Muruga as he killed his enemy Soorapadman and restored the heaven to him. Narathar, Nanmugan and Devas requested God Muruga to marry Theivanai. As per their request Murugan married Theivanai at Tirupparankundram. The elephant has got the place in the sanctum Sanctorum is the Indra’s Iravatham because it did not want to repatriate from Theivanai, it wanted to serve the God.


Arupadai veedu
God Murugan has six padai veedukal. Padai veedu means the barracks used to stay with the military personnel to fight against the enemy.
